Investigation Report – V. Valerian
Monday, June 6, 2011, Central Police Station

I was able to obtain the list of guests in order of entry. The Brenner Music Hall makes use of a digital ticket system, similar to the ones used by airlines. This was a tremendous help! It would seem Willy and Wally Fox were the very first two to enter the hall, followed by, you guessed it, Frank Spencer!
The next admission time was eight minutes later, after which the crowd flowed in short order. That puts Spencer in just the right position to shove the rags down the tube. Ms. Fife says that she was talking to the twins before the show, so it's entirely possible that the three of them were to preoccupied to notice him tinkering with the equipment.
Here's how I see it. Spencer had the opportunity, but no motive. Why would he want to hurt all those people? There's no point; no good could come of it. The same goes for the Fox Brothers. They were there before anyone else, but why would they do something like that?
I checked the twins' criminal record and all they've ever done is snatch and drug kidnappings. They'd knock out their victim with a rag doused in Acetone, than drive them to a secure location. They'd tie them up, pull off their shoes and have a go at their paws. Really not the worst thing I've heard of, but I'd say it's pretty hard to make the jump from boot sniffing to fire starting...

Arson Report – E. Grant
Monday, June 6, 2011, Central Police Station

Technological Pyrotechnic Ordinance Placement Incorporated, Techno P.O.P. Inc, handled fireworks and explosives for the entertainment industry. They supplied the raw materials, the equipment, and even a licensed technician. Here's the rub: they've been out of business for four months! Whoever it was that set those charges, they weren't the real deal!
Mr. Strom wasn't very helpful, but he did give me the number for the people he dealt with. That number doesn't match up with the one I have on file for T. POP. In fact, the number he gave me has been disconnected!
I'll try and match it to an address and go check it out. Not much else I can do, now.

Investigation Report 2 – V. Valerian
Monday, June 6, 2011, Central Police Station

On the night of the concert, all 500 seats were filled. 400 had been sold via an on-line service. The others were sold that night, at the door. I came across something a bit off. The last ticket was sold at 8:12 and they entered a moment later. The second to last person to be admitted entered at 7:58. That's quite a long wait!
My hunch panned out; it was the guy who tried to pass a phony ticket! It would seem that he stepped aside and waited until everyone else had gone in. Since there was still a ticket available, they let him buy it and go in after all.
Over the phone, Mr. Gordon clamed that he had received the ticket as a prize in an office raffle. He was shocked that such a thing could happen. "Just my luck, I guess…"
He had been told to get there early, so as to be right up next to the stage. He ended up all the way in the back, but that didn't bother him so much. He says the guy next to him had it even worse then him. Seems the poor guy was up front and got booted all the way to the back…
Take a guess on who that was? Right, the Golden Retriever, Frank Spencer! Mr. Gordon says Spencer stayed back there the whole time, nursing his nose after some cat bopped him one. When the sparkler went off, Spencer was nowhere near Clara, so he couldn't have been the one who cut up her back!

Progress Report – B. Wolf
Monday, June 6, 2011
Thornhurst Manor, Office of Cap. Wolf

Good work, Vincent! That puts Spencer in the clear on the assault charges, so why is he on the run? Is he? Are we sure of it? He's missing; that's all we really know. We can't say for sure if he's gone into hiding or if he's in serious trouble. What if the band members or some of the fans went after him for hurting Clara? What if we've had this backwards all along?
Think on this one. Let's say Spencer tries to take the belt and gets pushed away. Now Clara's seen his face and marked him in her mind. The fireworks go off and she gets cut by an unknown suspect. At the hospital, Clara decides not to turn over her lucky belt to the very same officer who tried to take it; instead she has one of her friends switch clothes with her. The same goes for her underwear. She could be lying about them being different from the ones Spencer turned in. That would sure make him look like the bad guy…
On the other hand, I don't think Clara is that devious. I almost buy into the belt switch, but I don't think she'd deliberately try to frame anybody. Also, there's the lack of blood evidence on the panties. There's still a lot to answer for. If we look at the clues, the hard physical evidence, we'll solve this case yet.
In this, the first of many THORN case files, you can get a feel for how the team works together. Every member of the team has different responsibilities and specialties. Investigators Elwood Grant and Vincent Valerian inspect the crime scene and submit physical evidence to the crime lab. Detective Iris Forester oversees the handling of said evidence at Tech Services. Detectives Joseph Boreas and Sasha Wolf interview the witnesses and gather testimony. Captain Brandon Wolf reviews the information submitted by his team and decides how to proceed with the investigation.

It’s also important that you understand that the officers involved in these investigations are on special assignment. As such, while it appears that they are doing very little at any given time, they are actually quite occupied with other cases. These files only contain information that pertains to the case at hand and should not be used to gauge anyone’s actual workload.

Short but sweet.
